In a career spanning over 20 years, Wayne Ashton has developed a rich, fresh and modern approach to Australian landscape and abstract art. Wayne approached RPBROWN requesting a new approach to his existing website - one that would better showcase his art. Wayne was especially enthusiastic that his home page should engulf the viewer with one of his art works.

Starting from scratch, we were intent on letting the art speak for itself. That meant developing a navigation structure that receded into the background as much as possible. Even the paintings and drawings titles and descriptions were designed so as to keep clutter to a minimum. What we were really aiming for was to replicate as closely as we could, the experience of looking at a painting hanging in a pristine, modern gallery environment.

When an artist has an extensive body of work such as does Wayne, we felt it important to provide the online gallery visitor with an overview of the number of artworks for perusal and a means of quickly navigating to them, and then back out again.

Finally, we applied extensive Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to the website to ensure that it was optimised for important keywords such as "Australian artists", amongst others. The site also employs best practice coding and scripting, is cross-browser compatible, and has CSS and W3C Validated coding.
